Given signs that people in many jurisdictions are becoming more permissive towards marijuana use, The Agenda recently discussed the psychological and physical effects of marijuana:

Related to that program, TVO's Michael Lehan and Eric Bombicino have put together an interactive graphic on the plant that marijuana comes from, hemp.

As the above graphic mentions, hemp and the harms associated with marijuana were lumped together in both Canada and the United States - with the Opium and Narcotics Act in 1938 and the Marijuana Tax Act in 1937 respectively - curtailing both their production.

But for decades advocates for hemp have argued that the plant is more than just a source of marijuana and could be very useful in many different commercial and industrial products.

Take a look at the interactive graphic to find out a bit more about marijuana's history, and its potential uses.
