Cancelled Power Plants

On Monday October 15, Dalton McGuinty announced his resignation after nine years as Premier of Ontario.

McGuinty also prorogued parliament until a new Liberal leader is chosen. This act not only halts debate in the legislature, but delays the committee investigating the cancellation of two gas-fired power plants in Oakville and Mississauga.

Prior to the prorogation, it was revealed that the government failed to release a further 20,000 pages of documents related to the cancellation of the plants, a revelation that dominated Monday's Question Period debate.

Economic Statement

On Monday, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan delivered the government’s economic statement.  Opposition cirtics accuse the government of not making enough progress on reducing the province's deficit.
