An Ontario Hubs segment of TVO’s current affairs program, The Agenda with Steve Paikin, has won the 2017 Ontario Library Association’s (OLA) Media and Communications Award. TVO was selected for its October 20th discussion dedicated to the changing role of libraries.
Ontario Hubs expand TVO’s in-depth, current affairs journalism, with a team of on-the-ground journalists embedded across Ontario digging deep into the issues that matter to people across the province. Ontario Hubs strengthen the voices of communities across the province that are increasingly under-represented in current affairs stories and analysis
The October 20th panel discussion sprang from a tvo.org article by Southwestern Ontario Hubs journalist Mary Baxter titled Libraries are providing more services than ever — so why aren’t we funding them? The article reported on how Elgin County libraries facilitate everything from mental health counselling to driver’s licence renewals, but still rely on short-term grants.
Ontario Hubs are made possible by the Barry and Laurie Green Family Charitable Trust & Goldie Feldman.
