This is a fascinating time to be a conservative in Canada. At Queen’s Park, the Progressive Conservatives have a huge lead in the polls over the governing Liberals, despite the still relatively new leader Patrick Brown stepping in the occasional cow patty. And on the federal scene, the Conservative Party is in the midst of a leadership contest in which no fewer than 14 candidates are vying to succeed Stephen Harper.
The politicians on offer range from progressive conservatives, to social conservatives, to economic libertarians, to Trumpists hammering away on anti-elitist, populist themes. We even had our own version of “Lock Her Up” in Alberta a couple of weekends ago.
From time to time, we invite long time conservative stalwart John Mykytyshyn into our studio to check in on the state of conservatism. Above is our most recent interview.
