Classic in the Jurassic: Ultimate Face-off / Back in Time
The `Classic in the Jurassic' games are back, and this time, it's the Ultimate Smackdown. Mr. Conductor explains the wrestling matchups from the three Time Periods are: T. Rex vs. Triceratops, Allosaurus vs. Stegosaurus and, Zupaysaurus vs. Riojasaurus (dinos new to the Pteranodon clan.) Fears that competitors may get injured are allayed by the explanation of how the `Smackdown' works - the best choreographed and most entertaining show wins! Morris Stegosaurus beats Alvin Allosaurus. When Ziggy Zupaysaurus goes up against Renaldo Riojasaurus, Mr. Conductor explains that Riojasaurus may be smaller, but has a powerful tail and speed on his side. Then Boris the T. Rex loses to Trevor Triceratops. Tank and Buddy are thrilled -what a face-off! Once the judges tally the results, Team Cretaceous is declared the winner, and the fans love it! --- Buddy and Tiny start wondering aloud whether the Triassic was the beginning of time, and if there was anything before the Age of Dinosaurs. So, to the Dinosaur Train they go where Mr. Conductor takes them back to the beginning of the Triassic time period to get some answers. In the Triassic, Buddy, Tiny, Mom, and Mr. Conductor meet up with Erma Eoraptor who is happy to explore the before the Triassic, question with them. Our group walks through a Pedestrian Time Tunnel (that's beyond the end of the train tracks) to get to the Permian Time Period, the time period immediately before the Triassic. There, they meet Deon Dimetrodon, who has never met a dinosaur or pterosaur before. Buddy and Tiny are amazed to learn that there are neither in the Permian (or earlier)! Deon marvels at our family's features - especially Tiny and Mrs. Pteranodon's wings. Deon shows our group around the hot and humid Permian, and he explains how his sail fin keeps him cool. Then Deon is delighted to experience the Mesozioc Era. He walks through the Pedestrian Time Tunnel with our group, and is blown away by the vegetation and the variety and size of dinosaurs. The Mystery of Knowing the Code
The clues: A napkin with an elaborate logo printed on it, a bamboo sword with lettering on it, a jug. The file label: "Know the Code". The investigation: The kids wonder if Hermione's mystery is about a secret code. If it is, they're ready to crack it! Kyla discovers that the napkin with the logo is from a university faculty club. Hermione was once a member there and she hung out with the club's manager Leanne. Kyla meets Leanne at the club and plays a game of table manners just like Hermione used to play with Leanne. They sit for a fancy meal and Kyla gets points for using good table manners and for spotting when Leanne is doing something impolite. From knowing how to use cutlery correctly, to saying please and thank you, Kyla quickly racks up the points. Her prize? Getting to wash all the dishes! It's the kind of gag Hermione often had in store for Leanne when they played this game. Kyla also finds out that the way you place your cutlery on your plate is kind of like sending a coded message to the waiter about whether you're finished, want more food or are just taking a break. E.B. meets his friend Kei at a dojo. Kei confirms that the lettering on the bamboo sword clue is Japanese. It's a sword used in the martial art Kendo and the lettering is the Japanese character Reigi, which roughly translates to manners. Before meeting the sensei, the master, Kei shows E.B. all the different bows in Japanese culture. Sensei is highly respected so E.B. must do the deepest bow at a 45-degree angle. E.B. gets to try out some Kendo moves and discovers that in Kendo, there are rules to follow like bowing, using the kaia yell when you spar, always being respectful and never bragging. After practice, E.B. and Kei enjoy some Japanese noodles and E.B. finds out that slurping is not considered rude. In Japanese culture, it's a way to tell the chef you're enjoying the food. Kyla discovers that the jug is called a jebena and it comes from Ethiopia. She meets up with her friend Hairmala who invites her to a traditional Ethiopian meal in her home. Kyla finds out that there are rules to follow like removing your shoes when you enter the house, eating with your hands, and participating in a traditional coffee ceremony with coffee made in an Ethiopian jebena.

Zack comes by and tries to help. They spot which way the wind is coming from by using leaves, but the wind changes direction when Chase rises into the air. They call Mika the Mechanic and she brings a leaf tail - a few leaves tied on a string - to help them see which way the wind is blowing. But the leaf tail needs to be at the right spot to help them see the wind. On the ground doesn't work, neither does the spot on the trunk of a tree. They find it works best when it's high-up and in the open. --- Zack and Rex try to cross a mud pit on a log. But the log is wet from the rain and is too slippery for them to get across without falling in the mud. They try going slow, but that doesn't work. Rex tries dropping sand on the log, but the sand he drops when he drives forward doesn't get under his wheels and he falls off. When he tries dropping the sand by going backwards, he can't see where he's going and ends up in the mud again. The film offers a fresh and nuanced look at the healing and revelation that can happen for everyone involved when men take responsibility for abuse they inflicted.

Pickles / Fish Tacos
Link prepares two pickle recipes today: Quick Dill Pickles and Quick Carrot Pickles. Most people think pickles are a vegetable, but they're actually a process, as Link demonstrates how to prepare pickling jars as well as the cucumbers and carrots themselves. Pickles are something Captain Cook is all too familiar with, as pickles were a way of keeping pirate grub from spoiling, so he's looking forward to crunching into this bounty of tasty treasure. --- Sportscaster Chip Dippington is impressed by Link's tag-team recipes of crunchy taco shells made from store-bought tortillas and a delicious fish filling. Indeed, Link shows how to create a light golden brown crust on the fish through proper searing, which as I.Q. explains, is due to a chemical reaction called the Maillard Reaction. Taking the guesswork out of cooking with a meat thermometer, Link is sure the fish is thoroughly cooked and ready to build some tasty fish tacos.

Dinosaur Train
Zeppelin 1: Waterfalls / Zeppelin 2: Atoll
The Pteranodon kids are riding the Dinosaur Train with friend and fellow pterosaur, Quincy Queztalcoatlus. When they pass by a waterfall, Buddy comments on how big it is! Quincy's dad mentions a giant waterfall at the edge of the Western Interior Sea. Mr. Conductor gives a lesson about waterfalls and then suggests a unique and amazing way to view the giant falls - from above! They can fly in the experimental Dinosaur Train Zeppelin...if Thurston Troodon will agree to take them all there on the zeppelin's maiden voyage. Thurston does and our Pteranodon family gets to experience a spectacular zeppelin ride! The Queztalcoatluses fly alongside, impressing everyone with their flying abilities. After learning more about waterfalls, the Pteranodons catch lots of fish and dine before heading back to the Train via the one-of-a-kind Dinosaur Train Zeppelin! --- When the Pteranodon family spots Annie and her T. rex herd migrating to follow the food, the Pteranodon kids wonder if other creatures, even marine mammals, also migrate. The Conductor flies the Pteranodon family over the ocean in the Dinosaur Train Zeppelin to look for Polycotylus, a type of marine reptile that does migrate in the ocean. After spotting a pod of migrating Polycotylus from the sky, the Zeppelin lands in an atoll and our family meets Paulette and Polly Polycotylus, a mother and daughter (from what is modern-day Australia.) Our Pteranodon kids, and Mom, Dad and the Conductor learn all about Polycotylus migration and the reptile features. Then the whole group of new friends enjoys a fish-picnic on the reef of the atoll before the Pteranodon clan heads back home in the zeppelin.
